Frederick Douglass Patterson Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship
Established in 2018 by the College of Veterinary Medicine to honor the personal merits and attributes of Patterson (DVM’23, MS’27) who served as the president of Tuskegee Institute and is the founder of the United Negro College Fund. Given to a student entering the professional DVM program with preference to underrepresented students. This scholarship may be renewed as long as the student remains in good standing.
Recipient: David Frausto (VM1) – West Covina, California
As a veterinarian, I intend to focus on shelter medicine where I can serve as a liaison for low income areas and educate these communities on animal welfare while providing veterinary services. Additionally, I will also be helping animals through behavioral and medical rehabilitation to ensure those in need find new homes.
